Akira Tachibana, a reclusive high school student and former track runner, has been unable to race as she used to due to a severe foot injury. And, despite being considered pretty by her peers, she is uninterested in the males at school. Despite the enormous age difference, Akira begins to develop affections for the manager, a 45-year-old guy named Masami Kondou, while working part-time at the Garden Cafe. Kondou demonstrates real care and generosity toward his restaurant's clients, which, although perceived by some as mushy or weak, attracts Akira to him. They become closer as they spend time together at the restaurant, which further reinforces her sentiments. Weighed down by these conflicting feelings, Akira ultimately decides to confess, but to whom?
